A New Generation of Tennis Players utilising the Blowhole Heritage Courts

Posted

Kiama Tennis Coaching  is very excited to introduce , for the first time, Saturday Morning and Pre School tennis  lessons at the Kiama Blowhole Courts. The Junior Hotshots Program is specially designed for the younger player and incorporates the use of specially modified tennis balls and lighter racquets.

Upbeat music and a series of fun co ordination drills help provide an enjoyable and entertaining exercise lesson while also teaching a basic introduction to the wonderful sport of tennis !

The prime location of these courts means that parents and carers can watch the lesson while enjoying breakfast or a cuppa at well known Milk and Honey Café while also enjoying the beautiful views over Kiama Harbour.

Our newly introduced preschool programme (which caters for children from the age of 3 )had such an overwhelming response that we have had to offer more sessions as there are a maximum of 8 kids in each class.

For more information  please contact Head Coach Joe Moseley on 0401 705364.

Report by Ross Smith

Kiama Shellharbour Vs NSW Chinese-Sunday 17th July

In an outstanding team performance the Kiama team of Steve Thurstan, Ross Smith, Steve Sharman and Kevin Jones demolished the NSW Chinese team 7 sets 45 games to 1 set 23 games. The team got off to a flying start 6-1, 6-2 in the first two sets. Steve Thurstan and Ross won their four sets while Steve Sharman and Kev, after pushing the Chinese number 1 pair to 3 all in the final set , eased off to drop the set but finished with an admirable three sets each.

Steve Thurstan again played strongly and was well supported by the rest of the team. This great win will make it difficult for other members of the Kiama team to get a game !

Special mention must be made of the expert coaching provided by team manager Bob Morgan….he made a great contribution also in his organisation of afternoon tea and then cleaning up and washing the dishes afterwards…thanks Bob .
